Founded in 1979, Amplex was established to bridge the gap between professional landscapers and plant growers. Over the past 45+ years, it has grown into one of the most respected wholesale plant and tree consolidators in the United States. Serving more than 1,500 landscapers and garden centers across the country, Amplex specializes in sourcing, consolidating, and delivering over 3,105 unique and common plant varieties—providing landscape professionals with a single, reliable source for quality nursery stock.
With a fleet of 21 in-house delivery trucks, over 100 employees, and more than 3.5 million plants delivered nationwide, Amplex is recognized not only for its scale and reach, but also for its commitment to personalized service and procurement efficiency.
However, as the business scaled, Amplex’s original ASP.NET website no longer supported its operational or customer experience goals. The platform lacked mobile responsiveness, was difficult to update, and required manual data handling for everything from catalog updates to customer communication. This friction extended to internal workflows as well, with no centralized digital forms for hiring, vendor onboarding, or inquiries.
Recognizing the importance of a modern, responsive digital presence that could match the scale of its physical operations, Amplex partnered with Mavenbird to reimagine its website. The goal: to create a centralized, WordPress-powered platform that integrates directly with their Sage catalog system and offers a seamless experience for both B2B clients and internal staff.

Legacy Platform Limitations Undermined Scalability and Operational Efficiency
Amplex’s legacy website, built on ASP.NET Web Forms, had become a bottleneck for digital growth. The platform lacked modern architecture and mobile responsiveness, and required significant developer intervention for routine content or catalog updates. Its monolithic structure offered limited scalability and made integration with third-party systems—like their Sage ERP—difficult and inefficient.
Additionally, the absence of a role-based user portal prevented B2B customers from accessing personalized pricing or submitting orders securely. Internally, key workflows such as employee onboarding, vendor applications, and customer inquiries were handled via offline processes or disconnected systems, resulting in data silos and increased administrative overhead.
To align their digital infrastructure with operational needs and customer expectations, Amplex required a flexible, API-friendly, and mobile-optimized platform. The new solution needed to support real-time ERP integration, streamline B2B user management, and automate internal form workflows—while also providing a content management system (CMS) that empowered non-technical staff to manage site content independently.

Modern Web Stack Implementation with ERP Integration and B2B Workflow Automation
To address Amplex’s technical constraints and future-proof its digital ecosystem, Mavenbird executed a full platform migration from ASP.NET to WordPress, leveraging a modular, headless-capable architecture to support scalability and maintainability. A custom WordPress theme was developed from the ground up, with performance-optimized templates and advanced caching strategies tailored to handle Amplex’s catalog-heavy environment.
A secure B2B user authentication system was implemented, featuring role-based access control (RBAC) to deliver client-specific pricing and content visibility. Mavenbird integrated the WordPress frontend with Amplex’s Sage ERP using a custom middleware layer, enabling bi-directional synchronization of product inventory, availability, and pricing in near real-time.
To streamline internal operations, WPForms was deployed as a low-code form builder solution, customized with conditional logic and backend hooks to route submissions into appropriate internal systems. This enabled digitization of key business workflows—including Driver Employment, Vendor Onboarding, Employee Intake, Customer Requests, and General Inquiries—without requiring a separate CRM or custom form stack.
All components were engineered to be mobile-first, WCAG-compliant, and performance-tested under load to ensure reliability across device types and user scenarios.
